angela fernot

freelance illustrator specializing in comic art

Angela Fernot is a freelance illustrator based in Wilmington, NC. Originally from New Jersey, she attended the County College of Morris, as well as the Kubert School for her college education where she focused on art. Up until 2019, she had the pleasure of working for the Kubert School, Greg Hildebrandt's Spiderweb Art Gallery, and Soldiers of Fortune Comics.

When she moved to Wilmington in 2019, Angela began to work with DREAMS Center for Arts Education, a non-profit arts education program that focuses on youth development through the arts. She continues to teach there, and while she loves to teach comic art, she has explored numerous other subjects and styles to keep her students as excited as she is.

In 2020, Angela co-founded Tales of Cape Fear, a comic book anthology based on stories and lore from the Cape Fear region. The title releases a new comic book annually, and incorporates mentors’ hip, community, and advocacy for the arts as part of the model surrounding the publication. Over 40 different artists and writers have participated in Tales of Cape Fear, and Angela hopes to work with many more as time goes on.

Currently, you can find Angela doing a number of different projects. In addition to working on Tales of Cape Fear, Angela teaches private art lessons, continues to teach at DREAMS, attends comic shows and conventions, and is working to expand the operations of Tales of Cape Fear.
